We begin today with a visit to the quaint 19th century fishing port of La Conner, with historic buildings, fishing docks, galleries, museums & bait shops. Enjoy an early lunch, then our scenic journey continues as we cross over the magnificent Deception Pass Bridge from Fidalgo Island to Whidbey Island, the largest island in Puget Sound. One of the Pacific Northwest wonders, the Deception Pass Bridge is 976 ft in length & 180 ft above the strait that connects Skagit Bay (Puget Sound) with the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Pass through scenic shoreline vistas & the notable towns of Coupeville, the oldest town in the state & Oak Harbor, the largest town on the island. Enjoy a short scenic excursion across Puget Sound by ferry, arriving in Port Townsend, the gateway to the beautiful Olympic Peninsula. Cross the longest floating bridge in the world located in a saltwater tidal basin, the 1961 Hood Canal Bridge; linking Kitsap & Olympic Peninsulas. Surrounded by 236 miles of saltwater shoreline, spectacular views of mountains & water are yours from every vantage point as we travel along Kitsap Peninsula, through the National Historic 1850's lumber mill town of Port Gamble to our home for the next 2 nights, the beautiful Clearwater Resort set amidst some of Mother Nature's most stunning scenery.
